Luke Varney and Shane McLoughlin both scored twice, Adam McDonnell netted a penalty and Larsen Touré curled home a brilliant freekick as Town’s U21s thrashed Bristol City 6-1 at Playford Road. All the Blues’ goals came in the first half with the Robins’ solitary reply Shawn McCoulsky’s penalty kick nine minutes before the end.

Doncaster midfielder James Coppinger, his former Rovers team-mate Mark Wilson, Chopra’s former agent Yogesh Joshee and jockey Andrew Heffernan were also amongst those found guilty.

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) hearing into race-fixing charges made against Blues striker Michael Chopra and nine others has concluded with the result set to be announced on Friday 25th January. Chopra, who released a statement saying that he wouldn’t be appearing at the hearing, was charged with serious breaches of the Rules of Racing in October.
